Holidays up at Buller

The past week, ive been up at buller just shredding with the TSC crew

We were split up into four different groups so my crew was only practising for the cattlemans rail jam on the weekend

for all the training there was Iver Lynne, Jack Carlin and Andrew Roth that joined me in competing on the weekend

All up it was a pretty damn good weekend blue skies, hot weather all week then Cattlemans

Now back to school, see you all up there next time

Anzac Weekend, all of my school mates and I headed down to Torquay for a good weekend of surfing and mucking around

We headed out to the freezing cold surf everyday to try cut up the waves

Watched the Anzac day footy and some betting

And just roamed the streets, skating and mucking around

End of the Chapter for Breckenridge 09/10

It was the end of the season for me on 15/02/10. I had to head home for school.

A week before, I had a Revolution Tour at Copper and was told after that I could go nuts in the big line at Breckenridge. But guess what, the weather actually came in for once this season at breckenridge and the whole last week it was horrible weather plus snowing.

I was able to get a couple of powder days at the end and also had a chance to shoot some photos with Tim Lloyd for a few days before I left which was great.

I had a great experience this season, with a variety of positive results and tricks to bring home and show Australia.

Stay tuned as I will be making an edit of the whole trip.

Revolution Tour Copper

On Tuesday I was the only one left competing from the TSC house since everyone else was injured.

Training was alright before I had to put my run down. I was fortunate to bring confidence in from the training.

My first run, I lost a bit of control on my front 7 that made me loose a bit of speed so I had to straight air the last jump. I tried to make up my lost points in the rail section. The rail gardens helped my score to place me 32nd overall out of approximately 110 riders, which made me pretty stoked that I can get a fairly high score without throwing my complete run down.

Burton Am Series

Last week, Michaela and I traveled to Winter Park, CO to compete in one of the Burton Am comps.

I was a little shocked when I rocked up with a course of 4 jumps, however I did adapt to the course and put my run down.

Out of 60 riders, I just qualified 12th just continue.

I ended up coming 10th overall which I was fairly happy with since there were multiple riders there throwing switch 12's and double rodeos.

Gatorade Free Flow Tour Vail
A week and a bit ago we headed over to Vail to get some free Gatorade and win some glory.
The jumps were a little different to Breckenridge, however we did adapt to it and there was Jack Carlin, Iver Lynne, Nick Wood and myself that made it to finals. I ended up to land my safety run and ended up coming 5th which I was pretty happy with.

Revolution Tour Mount Snow
Nick Wood, Iver Lynne, Michaela Davis-Meehan, Christine Hocking and myself, flew to Vermont to get some TTR and FIS points. The weather was not great at all, actually aussie weather, it was raining during our competition. I crashed out my first run and Coach Hock and I agreed to get a easy run down so i can have a chance to get into the Australian team for the world champs.

Something that everyone would love to do, something that you would never forget.

I got fresh turns all day long with instead of a lift, a helicopter.
It was the best thing ever, never looking hard for the secret stash or trying to beat your friends to it. instead you go whenever you like and you will find a fresh run of paradise. oh yeah your jealous

Trip to the Medical

Two days ago, I was practicing my front 9's in Breck when I landed straight onto my back. After that crash, i went inside and rested for the rest of the day and took the next off.

When I came back, I was doing some front 5's to get back to it when i landed on the same spot in my back.

After that whenever I moved my back, it was painful to breath, so Christine thought it would be a good idea just to check it out to see if I'm all good which ended up to be.

They worst scenario is a suspected cracked rib, however ill be back on the mountain in a few days back to normal hopefully

First Day at Keystone

Today we went out to Keystone for our first time this year.
It was snowing today and fairly cold only -20 degrees celsius.
The jumps were still getting developed so we had a day of jibs and Keystone was one of the best for jibs.

Im back in aus now for some sun until december when I fly back out to colorado for some more shredding. However back in NZ, i competed in the NZ Junior Nationals and on Wednesday i went through the qualifiers. we only had time for one run for that and luckily i threw down my safety run which included a cab 5, back 3, front 7. i got through with 50 points, 12 ahead from second so i had my confidence up for the finals. thursday was finals, up against the best of the southern hemisphere. I crashed my first run but built my confidence back up for the second and put the same run down as qualifiers and fortunately i finished up with a second place for the slopestyle. Super stoked, stay tuned for the footy of my run.

NZ 09 Day Four

The weather was not great again today, we drove up to Cadrona very early to get some good training runs in for the NZ Nationals but you weren’t able to see 5 metres ahead of you so we called it off and decided to head on the road to Queenstown. We had some lunch and did a bit of shopping until some of the guys decided to do some bungee jumping. I woosed out, yes but three of the campers ballsed up and payed the price to get their hearts pumped out of their bodies (Andy, Mongas, Lawrence).

They got two tries of the 42m drop from the bridge and were absolutely thrilled. Mongas has mad skills and decided to go backwards the crazy man and some lucky ones got wet. Stay tuned for more action at Cadrona and the NZ Nationals.

NZ 09 Day Three

Today we drop the racers gacers (Andy and Spencer) at Cadrona for some boarder cross training whilst we hit up the Snow Park jibs and get our freak on at the mountain dew rail jam. It was an awesome day with the sun shining in our eyes, with the sick features up in the park. We were able to ride up against some of the NZ locals, as well as some other foreign riders for some glory. I rode strongly in the qualifiers and got in second best, however I was unable to ride in the finals with a foot injury, so I just watched the kiwis get tech.

NZ 09 Day Two

When we woke up, we found out that all the mountains were closed apart from Snow Park and Treble Cone so we thought, why not check out Treble Cone and find some natural hits with some of the past snow fallen. With our first turns in NZ we found out that it was just some dust on crust. The little flurries of snow were just a cover for the rock hard snow underneath, so unfortunately we were not able to get that many natural airs as expected, however it was still some pretty sick riding.

NZ 09 Day One

Long time from last post sorry however I scored a trip to New Zealand. I got to the airport with Christine Hocking waiting for me, alongside Lawrence (FES), Mongas, Andy and Spencer. It was a smooth, 3 hour flight to Christchurch then just a little 8 hour drive down to Wanaka.

Whilst being in the car for that long we were able to find some pretty radical views, all the natural cliffs and fields were just amazing.

We arrived at the Oakridge, just outside of Wanaka at about 10 and got straight to sleep for some big riding the next morning.

Spring/Summer Training

In between Australian and northern hemisphere season goes by I will be training on my bag of tricks on the trampoline, however it will not only be my air tricks, I will be focusing on some of the rail dog tricks with my mates.

We gave it a test run on the weekend and it was very successful. We are still trying to find different types of jibs but at the moment this chair is very entertaining. Don’t try this at home; which we have and got injured very badly (blisters).

ROAST LEG OF AIR - BIG AIR COMP

had my second outing in the a la carte park series at mt hotham this weekend. it was another big air for me on the big D. we had practise and qualifyers in the arvo and it was pretty slushy and slow. alot of us were knuckling, braking balls and throwing down some gnarly stuff.

top 6 men top 5 grommies for the finals, i qualifyed first and with my two runs for the finals, i pulled out a front seven melon and kinda corked front seven for the second. i ended up with the win with winning some flipping sweet socks and beanies. the beanies keep my head soo warm but my ears another story dont quite fit and the socks, whatever you dreamed for.

so come up here for the finals a la carte series the desert slopestyle up at the summit, rode the line today looks pretty snazzy!

Stylewars!

it was horrible weather the whole week of stylewars

always foggy and snowing at points, we were only able to ride on wednesday night for the 28 stairs and on friday for the only half clear day.

wednesday night was hectic. in practice i got flipped up from one of the kinks and landed on my hand and wrist onto the stairs, next run i landed on my wrist again, that little pickle set me out for the rest of the week becoming a little photographer. everyone was throwing down in qualys and then top 6 was picked after an hour of dj perplex.

the half hour finals was absolutly crazy, charles and seb were battling out, it was like a gameboy game, every type of 270's turning into a few 360's on and then mark sollors pulls out a stomped 450 on which was nuts. eric, tom and kieren were pulling together some real gangster manouveres aswell which had the crowed gob smacked. ending up with equal first, the canadian boys seb and charles and best trick was thrown to mark sollors with his 450

our only day of riding on the jump was friday. everyone got into their routines very quickly. ginniepig for the day was matt kusilek and the first aussie was gangster iver slimmin milinn

the younguns were throwing some nice 7's and 9's. charles reid was doing some sick rodeos on the A frame shown above. sage kotsenbourg and seb toutant were throwing australias first ever double cork 10's very stylish. mikkel bang made the trip also to show falls creek his beautiful switch back 12's. i wasnt able to make the presentations for the grand master and all, however it was a fricken hard contest to judge on friday, everyone was showing their best and everyone was showing their guts aswell with some of the hardest crashes seen. crazzy week

recovering at prime retreat 'Mt Hotham'

ive been sick for a while now, i recently got glandular fever and right now i am getting over it which is good. ive been inside trying to recovering in the dark for 2 weeks now. im just about right so i will be back out riding in no time.

also, whilst i have been sitting inside at hotham watching all the riders and skiiers, gettin so jealous until today when i heard some lightening come down with the rain which crapped my pants. hopefully the weather gets better and we can go shredding in the sun soon.

the dew batttle had the usual buller competition weather rain,fog,wind the perfect combonation

my team mate nate perry and i only met the day before the comp so it was a bit tougher for us

we had the one hour jam and fireworks to go along with it

we had presentation and burton won best trick with a board grind to backflip over the hut sick

the overall impression was awarded to team quiksilver tim laidlaw and nate perry with 6 grand each

both bloody shocked and stoked at the same time

was great fun

cant wait for next year

Pea Brain and Soup Big Air at Hotham

hotham had their usual weekend competition but this weekend was special. it was the next stop for the dragon mystery tour. the hotham crew organised a big air under lights at the big D. i know it sounds wierd the big D but it turned out very impressive. it was situated to the left of hothams fire station on the empty slope. they had made a miny kicker for the grommets next was a 15 footer then there was a 50 footer that was pretty fun. it was a format of 2 runs, best run counts qualifyers then the same with the top 10 finalists. it was my first time getting back into the jumps for the australian season and fortunatly i took out the open mens with a front seven off the 50 footer and won some sunnys, t-shirt and a big doll for the trophy which looks very funny. all and all it was a good and fun night which everyone enjoyed a lot. everyone went and partyed at the general after but since im under age i went back home and chilled out with my beautiful girlfriend, hannah that had come up to the snow for the first time which was hilariously fun. good times everyone

battle at baw baw

I had an adventure on going on a day trip to mt baw baw for the first time. the forum battle at baw baw, never competed in it all ive been hearing from others whilst in the car, oh shit dude its a 22 stair set thats bloody steep and gnarley rails so yes i was quite nervous at the start on the way up. only a quick ride up the mountain but jesus it was windey couple of people had to use the vomit bags which was good for the car smell.

i walk through the little main way/street/town of mt baw baw and see 3 t-bars and thats all feeling a little depressed and then the park came to my eyes. brilliant stuff they had there, amazing features and great creativity. the stair set was soo epic wasnt scary at all, i had the most fun on it ever. we got some training done then watching the juniors kick it. 3rd will hargraves 2nd jack carlin 1st andrew roth.

great contest and then the open came on. everyone hucking everything was a great and intese hour. 3rd chris de campo 2nd mitch williams 1st robbie walker. well deserved placing everyone did awesome and lets get ready for the next comp coming up. the dew battle yeaha

i got my first chance to be in the famous cattlemans rail jam this year through wildcard qualifiers. when the spot lights turned on the nerves kicked in, my first hit was freaky as since its my first time however through the end it just felt like a normal park rail. great feeling it was riding with the australian pros in one of the real gnarly comps, especially getting most of my tricks down infront of the huge crowd. great comp put on from burton.

on the weekend the tsc crew had an episode free for them to strut their stuff which involved the likes of tim laidlaw. nick gregory the radical filmer was shooting all of us in our own private park we had set up behind the skyline t-bar, we had all creative stuff to hit which was a blast. so check out fuel tv or mountain watch and look out for tsc and myself

holy crap, already the opening weekend in 4 days crazy huh.

i thought it was going to be a epic season with snow already falling in may with a special weekend. i was thinking it would keep coming but it has already melted and it back to normal now. im starting to get nervous of what the season's going to be like, enough snow to build descent jumps, enough snow for halfpipes, enough for some face shots whats gonna happen guys. post a comment when you think the snows gonna fall or what you think the season is gonna be like because im quite confused at the moment.

As the snowboarding business is getting bigger and bigger in australia, one brand has come out of nowhere, Third Chapter. Will Kendall the maker of Third Chapter has down well for himself, making a gangster company with a team already put together. Everybody has been chatting about it saying it so good and creative and also how hot kendall is, but lets try focus on the gear he's bringing out. Throughout the season Kendall will be bringing new designs into the business even with a womens range that will really attract the snow businesss, so please keep a look out, its gonna go big.

snow in may while the sun is setting. mt hotham looking pretty good already with a bit of snow covering the rocks, a bit more snow storms and looks like victoria is set for a big season. mt buller already making some mullah with a special weekend of bourke street. i didnt go up for it, had to stay play some footy for club but looked like some good times as shown.

the season opening on the queens birthday, the season is only about 5 weeks away im pretty sure. super psyched, im going crazy stuck in a room learning and at the same time looking at snowboard mags. i hope everyone has a rad season get some great turns in there early and have fun. see use up there

over christmas i flew over to colorado with the TSC crew to do some gut busting competitive training for 6 weeks. it was heaps fun with the kinda crew they had they escpiaclly when they had ghetto peeps coming through for visits such as robbie walker, alex scott, lee ponzio and stewwwwie mcqueen.

being there with elite coaches makes ya improve at a great amount no matter what. a few of us also grabbed the opportunity to show the americans what the aussie groms are like. we competed in the usasa comps and the revolution tour comps, not all but all the ones we could grab a chance to go to. one was in boreal, tahoe and so we got to catch up with liam kaska for an arvo to grab some shots which was really good.

our main focus was our jumps for the season, staying in one of the best resorts in the world for terrian parks you cant really go past the idea of perfectly groomed jumps all day everyday, where they are not quite like that down under. rails every now and again to have some fun through the park especially on windy days, however everybodys bag of tricks got pretty full with alot of us stepping up to 7's and 9's. some media of the journey.
